American Legion Thanksgiving |

During the holidays, nothing seems to provide as much pleasure as giving. The Norco American Legion uses the Thanksgiving holiday to give back to the community in the form of a free Thanksgiving meal. According to event organizers this was the 18th year that Post 328 of the American Legion hosted the free meal.

In previous years more than 120 people would enjoy turkey, ham, and all the fixings. This year they were expecting more than 200 people and they were planning for more families than in other years.
Preparing the meal began at 3:30 a.m., but you need to get an early start to cook 23 turkeys and 14 hams. It was an all volunteer event and people came in throughout the morning to bring in donated food. There was no shortage of desserts to the apparent delight of children and an occasional adult acting like a child.

Norco is a small town with strong traditional values and it was apparent in the joy and comradeship displayed. There were friends and families enjoying the food and the time together.
Enjoy the Photos. The payoff for the volunteers were the smiles and thanks that were freely given. It was a great time. The next event on tap is Sunday December 21 for the Kids Christmas Party. Maybe I'll see you there. Until then, keep smiling. It looks good in the picture.
