Team Spirit
by a jacobs

A friend asked me to help do some team pictures at the Canyon Lake Little League. It was a lot of fun watching the kids in uniforms, looking and trying to act like the big leaguers. From T-Ballers to Majors they were there as part of a team, standing proud in their uniforms.

When we were done, I asked if I could stay to photograph a game. I use moments like this to practice technique, timing, and equipment. There was a game in progress between the Padres and Nationals and I found a spot by the dugout to set up and shoot some pics. A woman with a camera came by to ask if I was a professional and there to sell pictures. I said no, but that I might put these up on a web site called MenifeeLive. I asked which one of the kids was hers. She replied that he's not on the field, he only gets to play a couple of innings, "he's one of the little guys in the dugout." She went back to taking pictures of the other players on the field.

See the Photos

It was a great game, lots of excitement, great plays, and a lot of spirit. The players were competitive, there was a home run in the first inning, there was another, a grand slam this time by the other team, and the score was 9-1.

What really struck me as great was to see kids really enjoying the game! Players and coaches cheered and congratulated good plays to their own and the other team's. This was refreshing and showed me that the true spirit of teamwork and good sportmanship is not all lost, but alive and well.

I hope you enjoy the images and see the fun and excitement that they felt. If you want to see what sport is about, go watch a little league game. By the way, I hope I got a photo of the little guy in the dugout and that his mom gets to see it.

Menifee National Junior Basketball

As exciting as Kobe's 81 points was, nothing takes the place of watching your own super star on the court. With Paloma Valley's win over Hemet. let's all come out to wish them our best by coming out to watch their game next week at Elsinore.

Juniors enrolled in the Menifee National Junior Basketball program are giving it their all as well, as they move toward the end of their season.

The organization was founded in 1984 and has blossomed into a national youth league with over 25,000 participants in 6 states.

The program offers three divisions for boys and girls in first through 12th grade. Clinic division is for 1st and 2nd graders, stressing fundamental skills and personal growth. The High School Program is for 9th through 12th grade players who did not have a chance to play for their high school team.

We're so proud to be in a community that supports their youth. We hope you'll support the businesses that support our youth programs as well.
