2008 Race for Humanity held at Mt San Jacinto - Menifee - The goal for this 2nd annual Race for Humanity was to raise awareness and educate the public on issues pertaining to Women; Domestic and Family Violence, Heart Disease, Substance Abuse, Sexual Assault, Autism, Homelessness and Breast Cancer. These issues affect all of us at some level, and with todays housing market and economic uncertainty, it may be closer to home than many of us had previously imagined.
Volunteers from around the community came out to help. Pictured are members of Morman Helping Hands, an LDS Volunteer program.
Donations raised from the Menifee Race for Humanity go to provide assistance to local beneficiaries. This year the organizations that benefited include;
- Michelle's Place - Breast Cancer Resource Center
- Menifee Valley Community Cupboard
- Rotary International
- The Center Against Sexual Assault (C.A.S.A.)
- Riverside County Foundation on Autism
- 3rd & 5th District Homeless Campus
Mini Recipient
- Riverside County Professional Fire Fighter Benevolent Fund
Race participants included teams from the Sherrif's department, DA's office and Riverside County Firefighters in a healthy competition as well as timed individual races and team walk/run events.
Individual recognition was given to the top 3 racers in each category. The Riverside County firefighters and firefighter explorers provided a BBQ for all participants.
