Relay for LIFE - Menifee

The Paloma Valley ROTC met us on the football field friday night to help unload our car and setup our tents. Saturday morning began with some last minute setups and promptly at 9am the Relay began. Opening ceremonies of sorts. The Relay for Life is home grown effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society.? $400 million dollars is raised in this fashion, one family, one team, one community at a time.? Teams are encouraged to create a theme for their booth and even create fund raising opportunities for the event.
Team Kelli, organized by Paula Vigorito, on behalf of her 23 year old daughter Kelli.� Kelli�Vigorito was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphnoma last year.� Though Kelli has successfully reached a point of remission last October she understands why she Relays now and says that "having cancer was a relay. I relayed through my 7 hour chemo treatments. I relayed through the sleepless nights. I relayed through losing my hair. Having cancer was a relay for my life."� Team Kelli sponsored a "LIVE BUTTERFLY RELEASE" during the relay.? Team Kelli represented a team celebrating.
Tears, Hope, Relay team was organized by Lorena Vidreo�at first in memory of her father who she lost to cancer, but now in her own personal struggle against the killer. The Tears, Hope, Relay team made fresh fruit salad as a fund raiser during the event and represented one of the teams who are fighting back.?
MenifeeLIVE would like to thank the local merchants who made our presence worthwhile.? Stater Brothers on Newport Rd.? Albertson's on Newport Rd.? Ralph's on Antelope and Vons in Sun City.? We would also like to thank Trams,inc a division of SABRE Holdings who started us off with a donation of 12 cases of water.? MenifeeLIVE matched each case of water and supplied over 3 dozen bags of ice.
Lindsay Strong from Adora Bella of Murrieta was on hand to cut and style hair with hair donations going to Locks of Love, an organization that services hair loss in children.
